Remembrance of John McKellen
In the 1950s (after Fats' death) John Malachi came to the UK with Sarah
(Vaughn) I believe and I met him and during our conversation about Fats,
he recalled that they were together in the Eckstine band, I believe, in
fact, they roomed together, and John said that he and Fats had long late
night conversations about guys in the band who were doing all sorts of
stuff and both of them were in agreement that they would never go down
that road.
