TS 212 - Database Applications Course Objectives - Covers database management concepts for the end user. Students will learn good database design and database implementation using a current microcomputer database package. TS 214 - Microcomputer Operating Systems - Course Objectives - Course covers the basic and advanced commands needed to perform common operating system tasks in both a single-user, single-tasking environment and a multitasking environment. TS 220 - End-User Information Systems: Planning and Design - Course Objectives - Course covers the planning stages of end-user information systems development with particular emphasis upon employee and work group interactions. The ability to define and solve business end-user related systems, especially through ergonomics and feasibility studies, is emphasized. TS 322 - End-User Information Systems: Designing and Managing Training - Course Objectives - Course intorduces students to organizational trainng and development as it applies specifically to end-user information systems. Training skills that are grounded in theories of adult learning and instructional development are offered. Topics include needs assessment, instructional design and strategy, implementation management, evaluation and follow-up methods, and evaluation of training strategies. Additional topics include the discussion of assorted learning styles and matching these to various types of training instruction. Students will have practical experience as they design and deliver short training sessions in class. Class feedback is provided and students will experience how feedback (immediate evaluation) can be used as a developmental tool for improving training design and delivery. - Class Schedule
TS 331 - Technical Writing for the Computer and Communication Technologies - Course Objectives- This course focuses on technical writing of training materials. Exploration of the writing process will include analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of technical manuals. Students will learn the proper organization, layout, format, and visual appeal of manuals. As a group, students will experience the roles of writer, end-user, proofreader, and editor. This course will help students work in teams as well as individuals presenting newly created training materials. TS 351 - Microcomputer Hardware: Trouble Shooting and Maintenance - Course Objectives - Course is designed to introduce the IBM PC/PC compatible hardware and provide a strong foundation for maintenance and troubleshooting. The student will have hands-on applications of basic troubleshooting and will develop the ability to recognize common sources of problems and adapt solutions/preventative maintenance techniques. Today's popular diagnostic programs will be demonstrated and evaluated.
