Beowulf is the hero in this
brilliant epic. In the first part he successfully defeats Grendel
and Grendel's mother taking the beast's head back to the hall as a gift for King Hrothgar. Then in the second part he himself becomes a wise ruler, only to meet his death fighting the fierce dragon.
