King Hygelac is the ruler of the Geats. He is married to Queen Hygd and together they rule over Geatland. Hygelac is Beowulf's king and uncle. He is the first person Beowulf visits after returning home. The warrior comes to tell his king of his adventures in Denmark. Beowulf brings Hygelac many of the rewards that he has been given for ridding Hrothgar's kingdom of the beasts.
