December 26, 1998: Pre-production has been finished and filming has begun. Exlusively for our site ILM generated a picture of the Germanic burial ship used in the movie. Click here to view the photo.
October 2, 1998: There is a great disturbance in the force. Director Steven Cameron finally set the opening date for the long-planned screen adaptation of the Old-English epic Beowulf. The movie will open next Memorial Day weekend. This forced George Lucas to move the opening of his new movie Star Wars - Episode I: The Phantom Menace to 4th of July weekend.
September 25, 1998: Motion Picture Association of America announced that Beowulf: The Movie will be given NC-17 (No Children Under 17 Admitted) rating for explicit scenes of fighting between Beowulf and Grendel's Mother and for extremely vulgar dialogs of the Dragon, voiced by Joe Pesci.
