Who is Grendel?

Grendel is one of the many monsters which Beowulf has encountered over the course of his life. Grendel is an evil monster who is bigger than any man. He is described as being a humanoid. With giant metal finger nails and an evil light glaring out of his eyes. When Hrothgar has a mead-hall built, named Heorot, Grendel becomes extremely jealous. Grendel then decides to attack the hall and does so, he decides to take it over fourteen years. When Beowulf arrives, he seems to be no match for Grendel. In fact, because of his great strength, all Beowulf has to do is pull Grendel's arm out of its socket. Beowulf then hangs it on the wall as a souvenir.
