Dr. Chih-Yang Tsai

Dr. Chih-Yang Tsai, Associate Professor of Operations Management and Decision Science, earned his Ph.D. in Operations Research from Stern School of Business, New York University (1993) and has an M.B.A. from Tatung Institute of Technology in Taiwan (1984). He has been a faculty member in the Department of Business Administration at SUNY New Paltz since 1993.

His primary research focus is in the area of mathematical programming with applications in telecommunication network designs. He has published articles in Interfaces, Mathematical Programming, Naval Research Logistics, and Omega. Dr. Tsai is also interested in the area of Knowledge Discovery in Database (KDD). He is currently working on a project to develop dimension-tree based algorithms in JAVA for On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP).

Before his academic career, Dr. Tsai was a production controller and a special assistant to the CEO of a Taiwan based multi-national corporation. He had also helped an Internet telephony startup in Washington DC to design and setup its operations.

Dr. Tsai teaches Business Decision Support Systems, Operations Management, Quantitative Methods for Business Research, Management Science, and Managing Operations & Information Technology. He is a member of the Institute of Operations Research and Management Sciences (INFORMS), the Decision Sciences Institute (DSI).
