WESTCHESTER ORATORIO SOCIETY RECEIVES 2002 ARTS ALIVE GRANT

Liz McDonald, President of the Westchester Oratorio Society recently accepted a 2002 Arts Alive Grant from the Westchester Arts Council. She is shown below with her husband and fellow board member, Bob McDonald, Nicolette Clarke, Executive Director of the New York State Council on the Arts (L), and Sarah Bracey-White, Westchester Arts Council Board Member (R). Proceeds from the grant will help underwrite WOS's special 5th Anniversary performance of Bach's St. Matthew Passion on May 5 at the Rye Presbyterian Church. The uniquely beautiful Bach oratorio will be performed as intended, in the dramatic setting of the Church with professional soloists, and a double professional orchestra. Other funding for the event will come from "Fascinating Rhythm" a benefit to be held on April 14 at Northern Westchester Center for the Arts, starring Professor Anthony Lowell and friends. Dr. Lowell, a concert pianist and a noted Gershwin expert teaches at St. Johns University, and is known locally as a part-time patrolman in the Lewisboro Police Department.
