August 29, 2001 -- For Immediate Release

After an exciting season that culminated with the group's appearance at Carnegie Hall performing Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the Manhattan Symphony Orchestra, Harold Rosenbaum's Westchester Oratorio Society resumed its regular Tuesday evening rehearsal schedule this week at the South Salem Presbyterian Church.

An eventful summer included a concert tour of Italy and France for many of the group's members with Mr. Rosenbaum's Canticum Novum Singers, as well as a successful series of "summer sings" at Northern Westchester Center for the Arts.

WOS's exciting 2001-2002 Season, celebrating the group's 5th Anniversary, will include an all-Beethoven program on December 1, 2001 at John Jay High School in Cross River, NY, featuring a performance of Beethoven's Choral Fantasy with world-renowned pianist, Hélène Grimaud. In May, the group will perform Bach's St. Matthew Passion at the Rye Presbyterian Church.

Auditions for new singers are ongoing. Though no previous experience is required, some sight-reading ability is desired. For more information, or to audition, call 914-763-9389 or visit the group's web site at www.westchesteroratorio.org.
