a unique program of classic and contemporary
compositions in an historic concert at the
Presbyterian Church of Mt. Kisco.
Westchester Oratorio Society will perform
Bach's superlative Jesu, Joy of Man's
Desiring and Beethoven's magisterial
Mass in C, Op. 86, accompanied by Mary
Jane Newman, Minister of Music at PCMK, on
the magnificent von Beckerath pipe organ,
completed just one year ago.
Anthony Newman's Sibley Requiem, a
majestic work evidencing Newman's love for
Baroque counterpoint, as well as modern
harmony and melody, will be presented,
accompanied by the composer himself.
The Westchester Oratorio Society attracts
avocational singers from Westchester, Putnam
and Fairfield Counties, as well as New York
City. The Oratorio Society was recently
rated Westchester's Best Amateur Chorus

The Robert C. McDonald
Scholarship Fund
The Robert C. McDonald Scholarship Fund was
established in 2006. A grant is made each
year to a graduating, college-bound senior
at John Jay High School, Katonah, who has
shown a commitment to community service.
This scholarship is given by the local
choral group Westchester Oratorio Society
(WOS) in memory of Bob McDonald- beloved
friend, founder, treasurer and
"chief-of-staff" of the Society. In addition
to Bob's many years of devoted service to
the chorus, as a long-time resident of South
Salem, he gave of himself to many other
community organizations as well.
The award is intended for a student who has
demonstrated similar spirit in serving his
or her community. (Preference may be
given to a student who has excelled in
music, but community service will be the key
criteria in granting the award.)
