CS619 Data Mining Goals for the course: By the end of this course, students will be able to: 1. Filter and project data appropriately. 2. Understand and use a variety of classification methods, including decision trees and association rules. 3. Understand and use clustering techniques. 4. Understand and use bayesian inference on data. 5. Understand and use neural networks. Before taking CS619, students should have the following abilities: 1. Good knowledge of Java or another high level language, and basic programming methods including recursion. 2. Familiarity with the Internet. 3. Knowledge of abstract data types.
