Write a paper on the technology life cycle that combines the information on the phases of the cycle described by Kendall, Kurzweil, and others, and that gives many examples of technologies as they have gone through the cycle. This will be a Word-for-Windows document with an introduction and references, so that it could be submitted for publication.
Note that this paper could lead to a dissertation. For example, your hypothesis might be that that the time period from invention to general use for AI inventions is longer than for non-AI inventions. This hypothesis was, in fact, stated by the author of Kendall's chapter 6. Of course, you would have to research, tabulate, and perform a statistical analysis of many AI and non-AI inventions to prove this hypothesis. Another hypothesis might be that the time period from invention to general use for Internet inventions is shorter than for non-Internet inventions. Even another might be that the time period from invention to general use has been getting shorter and shorter, as might be anticipated by Kurzweil's idea of time speeding up.
