FTC Tournament Team Tips

Team Guide (link available shortly to participating teams)  here is some of it…

EARLY INSPECTION:  The Saturday, December 7th FLL@SUNYIT Utica Region Championship will be followed by set-up for FTC & optional early FTC Inspection.  We’re anticipating FLL wrapped up no later than 5:30pm.  We’re asking local teams to help us move out FLL and set up FTC on Saturday evening.    We appreciate the assistance & will give available teams an opportunity to cut down on long inspection lines Sunday morning.  Exact times to be announced soon. We’re thinking it will take an hour to get set up.  plan on ~6:30/7:00pm to 8:00pm – ish.

PIT AREA:  Pits open at 7:45am when doors open. Please be courteous when unloading, setting up, and loading pit team equipment/displays and follow all safety & venue guidelines.  Each team will have a table, 2 chairs and a duel power outlet.  We suggest connecting using a surge protected power strip.    A reasonable space around all sides each pit must be maintained.  All main walkways must also remain clear.    Everyone in the pit and tournament areas must wear safety glasses at all times.  We’d appreciate it if teams had a few extra on hand for anticipated mentors &/or family members staying with the team in the pits.  To the right of the pit area, we’ll have a break area with round tables and chairs.  Use it to have lunch or just take a break from the action.  Please do not bring chairs from the break area into the pits.   Did I miss anything?

LOAD IN/LOAD OUT:   Directions available shortly in your Team Guide.  Teams are encouraged to think portable with supplies as the load in & out area is not spacious and we have 24 teams to get in and out in a timely manner.   Please be courteous to help us with traffic flow.     Be careful on area roads and sidewalks everywhere as early morning “sneaky” black ice is a normal part of life for this time of year.  Stay safe!

MORNING REGISTRATION:  Doors open at 7:45am.  The registration table will be inside the interior doors on the main field house floor –  on the left of the main entry.  We’ll do our best to have the registration table open before 8:00am. All teams must check in at the registration table upon arrival.  Please send just send 1 or 2 representatives to cut down on long lines.  The rest of the team can go directly to Inspection and the Pit Area.   Please be patient with our volunteers as we are all rookies handling FTC (for some of us, this will be day 2 of a long FIRST weekend!)
