Visa Requirements
Foreign Nationals desirous of coming into India are required to possess a valid passport from their country of origin and a valid Indian Visa.

Getting your VISA is fairly simple. You can download an application from the Indian Consulate in New York city, and do it all by mail (URL is given below).

Please note:

There is no provision of 'Visa on Arrival' in India and no fee is charged for immigration facilities at the airports. Foreign passengers should ensure that they are in possession of valid Indian Visa before they start their journey to India.
You can apply for Indian visa at the office of the Consulate General of India in New York, which is located at 3 East 64th Street, between Madison and Fifth Avenues, New York, NY 10021.
Applicants if they so choose can also send applications by mail. Applications in straightforward cases received by mail normally take two days to process. This is in addition to the time taken in mail.
US passport holders ordinarily receive visas by the evening of the day they aply  if the application has been received earlier in the day (before 12:15 pm).
Vise fee: six months tourist / entry /Business visa US $60.
All fees should be paid either in cash or through money orders or certified cheques drawn in favour of CONSULATE GENERAL OF INDIA, NEW YORK. They do not accept personal checks.
