Today's Children's Pick: Tower of the Shadow Dragons
A
cold north wind moved silently through the moonlit forest. The trees moved softly
in the night, casting a black net of shadow upon the barren floor. Many farmers
called this the Forest of the Damned; many samurai were too afraid to enter; many
who did never returned. But no monster lived in this forest. No demons walked
these grounds. Only shadows called this wood their home and these shadows were
more deadly than any peasant's tale could say. I tell you the story of the Shadow
Dragons. I tell you the most frightening story of them all.

Puzzling Plurals
While normally English words become plural by adding an s or es to the end, a few plural words are spelled differently. For example, toy and toys is normal, but the following are not:
mouse | mice |
goose | geese |
man | men |
The plurals listed below are all nonsense, but borrow their plural spelling from the plural of a word which rhymes with the singular word. For example, if the plural of ox is oxen, then why isn't the plural of fox, foxen? And if the plural of die is dice, then why isn't the plural of pie, pice?
Can you figure out what the singular version of each of the following "Puzzling Plurals" would be?
1. hice | __________ |
|
2. cabeese | __________ | |
3. cen | __________ | |
4. boxen | __________ | |
5. tice | __________ | |
6. gulves | __________ | |
7. wooves | __________ | |
8. wildren children | __________
9. fives and drums | __________
10. seet | __________ | |
