Rate Shockwave/Flash Sites for Authentic Interactivity and Educational
value
The application Flash is defined as an application used to create high-quality
animations on web sites.
Using the Internet and Microsoft Word, you will research three web sites
that use the application appropriately and justifiably. After reviewing
Macromedia's Flash interactive animation the past six weeks, you have a good idea about this applications (Macromedia Flash) good and bad qualities.
After collecting three web sites you feel meet the assignments criteria, you will write a page to
two pages about its appropriateness and should include as much of
the following information as is available:
- The uniform resource locator (URL) - AKA the web address
- What the site is/was about and how multimedia aided it
- Why this animation or interactivity is important
- Any other academic/leisure interests that made these sites your
choice
- If you could recreate something similar, or would you make something
better.
- Make sure that you justify yourself.
- If the site is good, explain why it isn't.
- Likewise, if the site is good, explain why it is a good site.
Directions
- Using a search engine such as Google,
select three web sites that you feel exemplifies a good use of
Macromedia's Flash.
- Use the rubric supplied here to assist you as you rate a good, bad, poor web site using Flash.
- Search the Internet for a web site that uses flash to fulfill
interactivity and make education interesting as some of the site/author's
main point of view to Flash up a subject.
- After searching and finding that Flash site that meets your
criteria, note the uniform resource locator (URL) as to identify
and to document the site.
- If necessary, use SnagIt's
30 day trial for this assignment, or purchase it for $39.95
(or if you have photo editing software, just use the Print Screen
Key). By grabbing one or more pictures, it might help further
explain your intent and reason for either favoring or not favoring the use of the site.
- After supplying the information to answer why these sites had
either effectively or ineffectively used Flash and have gathered
data (such as captions on the web page, or sample text) and the
optional pictures of the three sites you will type one to two
page evaluation on the sites.
- Using the information that you researched on these web sites.
- Make sure to check your document for spelling errors.
- Make sure that if you used images, that where ever needed to
convey the point. Keep the pictures they are wrapped either around
the text or in a contained area.
- Double line-space the assignment.
- Keep the assignment within the one to two page requirement.
- In a later assignment you will be asked to re-create similar
web pages using Flash to make your content "animated"
for your visitors so keep this in a safe spot for the next project.
