NUCLEAR ENGINEER
back
The task of the engineer will be to determine the design
of the plant. Understand all of the main parts and how they work. Decide between the
different types of cooling systems.

Use these questions to guide your research, but do not
limit yourself.
- Locate at least two diagrams of nuclear facilities. Use
these diagrams to aid you in designing your own.
- What are the differences between the two types of cooling
systems? Which do you recommend? Why?
- What do the following parts do and what are they made of?
Control Rods; Fuel Rods; Moderators; Coolants (including heavy water); Shielding.
- What is the reaction that takes place in the reactor?
