Introduction:

Welcome to March Madness!!  March Madness is a competition among 65 college basketball teams.  Once the teams are chosen by a selection committee, brackets are developed (click here for last years brackets).  As the 65 teams play, the winners continue on in the competition and the losers are unfortunately done until next year.  The last game is played by the two teams who won the most games throughout the competition.  The winner of the final game is given the National Championship title for that year.  The Men's 2004 National Champions were the UCONN Huskies.  This March Madness competition is a lot of fun to watch and follow, filling in the brackets as you go along.  Who will be the 2005 NCAA Basketball National Champion?  I guess we'll just have to wait and find out....

Task:

Your job is to create a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation on the college of the team that has been assigned to you.  For example, if you have been give the Uconn Huskies, you will go to the University of Connecticut web site and browse through the website, pulling out aspects that you feel are important about your college.  You will then turn these new found facts about your college into a PowerPoint presentation on your college that you will then share with your classmates at the end of this assignment.

Process and Resources:

    1.  You will each be assigned a team that is in the March Madness competition.

    2.  You will then look for your college's web-site here.  Once you find your college, click on it and it will take you to your college's website.

    3.  Now that you have found your college's website, it is time to browse through it to find out some interesting facts.  Things you should be looking for include, when was the college founded, who founded the college, who is the president of the college, what academic programs does the college have, what are the athletic programs at the college, what school majors does the college offer, what is the enrollment of the college, and does the college have any famous alumni.

    4.  As you are browsing through your website, be sure to save pictures from your website that you like to include in your PowerPoint presentation.  Be sure NOT to copy and paste the wording right from your website.  Please take the information you find on your website and rewrite it using your own words.  If you are having trouble with this, please feel free to ask a teacher for some help.  If you copy and paste the words, you will lose points on this project.

    5.  You are also welcome to use google, yahooligans, and ask jeeves for added information on your college, but, your college's website is your best bet on finding all the information you need.
