Genetic Disorders

You have chosen to do your project on Genetic Disorders.  This purpose of this project is to determine whether or not we, scientists, should be allowed  to Genetically Test for Human Disoders.  There are those that oppose it and then you have those that are all for it.  You and your partner will have to chose a side, Pro or Con, while the other group will do the opposite.  You will have to do the following for whichever side you choose.

  1. Research some Ethical issues of testing for Genetic Disorders ( some of the following sites can be a good start ).

  2. You will need to be able to present your side, Pro or Con, in both a PowerPoint Presentation and at the same time an Oral Presentation.

  3. The presentation needs to be very forceful, because your group in trying to convince the audience that what it is you are siding for is either a good or bad situation.  Remember that your group has a counter part so be prepared for a good debate.

  4. All research material needs to be credited in a proper format

  5. The PowerPoint Presentation needs to have a Title Slide, and a Bibliography Slide.  There is no set limit that you will have to meet in terms of amount of slides.  The more powerful the information, pictures and/or video, you have the better your argument will be.

  6. Below are some questions that will direct you in your quest to produce a proper stand. They can go in both directions:
~Who has the right to allow for testing of Genetic Disorders?
~When testing has occurred, will the right decision be made?
~What will this type of testing do to the Human Population?
