Friday has different meanings in cultures around the world. Friday is the English name for the sixth day of the week. Friday was named after the Scandinavian goddess of love and beauty, Freya. In Anglo-Saxon Friday means "frigedaeg". "Fria" was used in Old High German (a goddess), and "daeg" in Old English means day. In French Friday means vendredi, vernerdi for Italian, and vienrs for the Spanish. These languages are considered the romance languages of the world. Yom shishi is the Hebrew name for Friday which is the sixth day of the week.
