"Sir Gawain and Lady Bercilak" (The First Seduction)

The following is a monologue from Lady Bercilak. She goes into Sir
Gawain's bedroom while he is still sleeping. Her purpose is
to seduce him to test if he is a courteous knight.
Sweetly does she speak
And kindling glances dart,
Blent white and red on cheek
And laughing lips apart.
"Good morning, Sir Gawain," said that gay lady,
"A slack sleeper you are, to let one slip in!
Now you are taken in a trice-a truce we must make,
Or I shall blind you in your bed, of that be assured."
