My First Real Job

I had no idea that when I applied for and was hired to my first job at CVS Pharmacy, I was crossing a threshold from childhood to adulthood. I first noticed that my adult family members began referring to me differently than my twin brother who does not work. They began grouping me with the adults when having conversations about planned family activities and other events. All of a sudden, they began to ask my schedule and availability vs. telling me what I would be doing.

With the change in treatment, has come a certain freedom that I never had before. Now, I am more independent and responsible with both my finances and my time. I also realize that one must work hard for money so it makes sense to budget and save whenever possible. I have learned to value my free time and to make sure I am spending it doing something I enjoy. Transitioning from childhood to adulthood has been a rewarding experience and I'm excited about my continued growth through the next chapters of adult life. I hope to grow to be as great and responsible a woman as my mother and the many other examples in my life.
