Prerequisite Knowledge: | Technology -
Students must have basic computer knowledge and know how to use links,
scrolling, back buttons and mouse. Students must be familiar with
creating a PowerPoint presentation.
Notetaking - Students should know how to take clear, concise notes and paraphrase information. Subject Area - Students should already have background information about the history of the westward expansion for both mountain ranges, the time periods they took place in and some of the historical events. |

Lesson Duration: | 2 weeks of 40 minute
classes The first week is used for group
meetings, organization and collecting data. |

Suggested Post Lesson Activity | After a
full discussion on the different PowerPoint presentations, each student can
write a short essay, poem, song or journal entry on the similarities and
differences they noticed in the two mountain cultures.
