Pauline Mosley

As a tenured Full Professor of Information Technology at the Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems, Pace University, on the Pleasantville campus, my career is defined by a deep commitment to both teaching and mentorship. My aspiration to inspire and educate, particularly in motivating young women to pursue careers in computer science and technology, drove my transition to academia.

My professional journey began in 1985, where I spearheaded corporate training initiatives at Personal Computer Learning Centers of America, Inc., empowering Fortune 500 executives and personnel from companies like IBM, Texaco, and Pepsi to effectively leverage technology. Building upon this foundation, I spent nine years as an adjunct professor at institutions including Westchester Community College, Iona College, The College of New Rochelle, and Mercy College, honing my pedagogical skills.

In 2000, I joined Pace University with the goal of contributing to a four-year university environment. Prior to Pace, I achieved tenure as an Assistant Professor at Hostos Community College, a CUNY campus, where I served for a decade. My extensive background in corporate training, coupled with my diverse academic experience, allows me to provide students with a unique blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

I take great pride in mentoring students and junior faculty, finding immense satisfaction in guiding them toward success and positively impacting their career trajectories through thoughtful support and encouragement. My research focuses on identifying factors that discourage women and minorities from pursuing STEM fields, such as lack of female role models, gender bias in education, and a perception that STEM is not “feminine”. I am passionate about fostering the next generation of IT leaders and empowering them with the knowledge and skills to thrive in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
